My Cymbidium Orchid Has The Strangest Flower

by Chantelle

I need some help; all you orchid lovers will be able to help me. One of my cymbidiums have the strangest flower at the end of the stem it look like a male don’t know if it could be but maybe its deformed or something. I’ve goggled it and haven’t gotten a real reason yet. I’ve added pictures the one to show how the normal flower looks and the first one showing the flower that looks like a male don’t know any reason why it looks this way?

Think It Is A Mutation
by: Melissa

Thanks Chantelle for sharing your great pictures.

I think it is just a mutation. Just a genetic quirk if you will.

That is my take on it anyway. I have sent it to a couple of professional orchid growing friends and if they say anything different I will post here again.
